theatre and theatrical performances at different venues.
In addition to this, during every repertory season, fascinating
international dance companies visit the venue. In the
opinion of the director, Bernhard Helmich, and his em -
ployees, an important task is that of supporting talented
young artists.
Bonn has a variety of different smaller private theatres. These
include Contra-Kreis Theater, which is found in the inner city,
Euro Theater Central, Junge Theater Bonn, which is located
in Beuel, DIE RABEN theatre, Kleine Theater Bad Godesberg,
Die Pathologie theatre in the southern part of town and
Bonn University Shakespeare Company.
Among other things, small-scale performing arts, cabaret
shows and in part also concerts are presented in Haus
der Springmaus, Pantheon Theater, Endenicher Harmonie,
Theater im Ballsaal and Bad Godesberger Klangstation.
Rhein in Flammen
Every year between May and September, the spectacular
“Rhein in Flammen” firework event is hosted along the most
beautiful parts of the Rhine River. Traditionally, during the
first weekend in May, it is the turn of the venue between
Linz and Bonn. On festively illuminated ships and along the
banks of old Father Rhine, thousands upon thousands of
enraptured spectators enjoy the firework spectacle that has
been synchronised to the music, in addition to a large
entertainment and stage programme.
From S to E
Between June and August, KUNST!RASEN attracts magnificent
solo artists and well-known international bands to
Bonn. All friends of entertainment music definitely get their
money’s worth here. Following the first years of uncertainty
whether the location may remain and whether the concept
would be sustainable, one can say today that it would no
longer be possible to imagine the cultural programme without
the open air music series.
A fascinating spectacle of state-of-the-art technology in the
spa gardens of Bad Neuenahr – this is “Klangwelle”. Colourfully
illuminated plumes of water dance 30 metres high in a
variety of different formations, synchronised with the
rhythm of classic, modern and regional music. Fantastic
images and emotional videos are projected on an oversized
large “wall” of water. Flame fans “heat up” tempers. Lasers
crisscross the evening sky. The screenplay changes, yet there
is one constant: the sound waves touch all age groups and
music tastes.
