Civic involvement and entrepreneurial responsibility characterise
the foundation scene in the region.
The support refers to all areas of life such as the promotion of people with
disabilities or also language training for refugees (image on this page).
responsibility of companies (CSR = Corporate Social Res -
ponsibility). The driver behind this is the conviction that
organisations and citizens can reach more when working
together. Networking, cooperation and strategic project
development leads to more professional, effective and
efficient projects. A large number of small and mediumsized
companies in the Bonn/Rhein-Sieg region have dedicated
themselves – some already for decades – to being a
sponsor or supporter of social, charitable or sporting acti -
vities. Corporate social responsibility, thus referring to the
social responsibility of companies, has the purpose of
connecting individual company’s activities, in a variety of
different spheres of activity, to the corporate strategy
and objectives. Having been selected as the winners of a
state-wide competition, the Bonn/Rhein-Sieg Chamber
of Industry and Commerce and the Bonn Rhein-Sieg University
of Applied Science have (initially, for three years)
mutually been operating the CSR competence centre for
small and medium-sized companies in Rhineland since
January 2016.
The approaches might be completely different, yet the
motive remains the same: help and serve!
A brief overview
The region boasts a varied foundation landscape. The fields of activity cover all
aspects and stages of life. A foundation concerns itself with public welfare and
with the individual; it supports animals and the environment. The scope of
activities starts directly in front of the house door and continues right up to
international deployment of global players like Welthungerhilfe (World Hunger
Aid). The small excerpt from the register of non-profit foundations makes this
very clear.
