REGINEE BONN/RHEIN-SIEG – FOR A CLEAN ENVIRONMENT
Reducing the costs for energy within the own company
and making a contribution to climate protection at
the same time, is the objective of the Bonn/Rhein-Sieg
REGINEE network. With a systematic exchange of knowledge
and experience, savings potential can be identified
and utilised, so that investments in energy-saving measures
can be performed with even greater efficiency.
Increasing energy efficiency? For sure, the answer is a definite
yes – but how to go about it? Presently, this is an
important question for a number of companies. The various
possibilities and challenges are as individual as the com -
panies themselves. Nevertheless, there are common denominators
that lead to the same questions being posed:
how can effective utilisation of waste heat be structured?
What are the important aspects to pay attention to when
changing the lighting presently used to modern LED technology?
What are the legal framework conditions?
It is here where the REGIonal Network for EnergyEfficiency
(REGINEE) comes into play. It supports companies in
exchanging views regarding all aspects revolving around
the topics of energy-saving measures and climate protection.
The project is part of the National Action Plan for
Energy Efficiency (NAPE) and the climate protection action
programme of the federal government. 500 networks are
set to be created by the end of 2020. The Bonn/Rhein-Sieg
Chamber of Industry and Commerce, together with the
Bundesverband der Energie abnehmer e. V. (VEA) (Federal
Association of Energy Consumers, non-profit organisation),
participates in this federal “Initiative Energie Effizienz-Netz -
werke” (Initiative of Energy Efficiency Networks) and started
initiating and implementing REGINEE on site at the be -
ginning of 2016.
To date, eleven companies (status August 2016) have joined
REGINEE in the Bonn/Rhein-Sieg district: Reifenhäuser
REGINEE in practice: sequence of the network’s work
To start with, the participating companies are provided with
qualified energy consultation. This has the purpose of
evaluating the respective potential for savings. Then, for the
duration of the network, each sets an own savings goal and
another savings goal for the network as a whole, which is
based on the accumulated goals of all companies. This is
the foundation for the exchange of experience: regular
meetings are on the agenda for the agreed duration. These
have the purpose of discussing concrete topics and energy
efficiency developments with one another and, as the case
may be, with external experts. Thus the expert round creates
the foundation for the individual companies to take
concrete decisions regarding targeted investments aimed
at saving energy costs. Experience has shown that, by means
of this, the initially set network goals are attained in the
course of the entire duration or even significantly exceeded.
The result is that notable energy cost reductions are
prob able.
Win-win for all: idea transfer plus motivation
With the eleven network partners, the popularity in the
Bonn/Rhein-Sieg region is very big. First and foremost, the
participants benefit from targeted and unbureaucratic
knowledge and experience exchange, providing them with
food for thought for the own company. By means of this,
viable efficiency potentials can be made available rapidly
