REGINEE at a glance
Eight to twelve companies within one region join forces in
one network. The objectives:

– regular meetings in the participating companies result in
an intensive exchange on topics of their own choice.

and with little effort. The following improvement process
increases motivation and promotes the own transfer of
know-how and ideas.
The municipal works of Troisdorf utilise the energy efficiency
network as an aid for the implementation of an own energy
management system in accordance with DIN EN ISO 50001.
“Promising ideas and practically-oriented measures targeted
at increasing energy efficiency or reducing carbon dioxide
emissions can be communicated in the group in a targeted
manner“, explains Dr André Baade, environmental officer
and energy manager of the municipal works of Troisdorf. The
company sees itself as the local engine and promotor
for the deployment of energy-efficient technologies – for
instance with regard to regenerative sources of energy or
an environmentally-friendly mobility concept. Concretely,
these include, among other things, fuel cell technology,
energy storage and also electromobility. “Owing to the
experience already available, these innovative technologies
and our progressive approaches can provide valuable
stimuli for emulation and continuation for our partners in
the REGINEE network“, the energy expert explains in more
detail.
To date, the thematic focal point has been the utilisation of
waste heat. In this regard, the Troisdorf municipal works is
currently inspecting whether, from energetic perspectives,
the utilisation of waste heat can be improved even further
in the area of sewage treatment plants. In addition to this,
providing the own buildings with warmth is to be optimised.
“Against this backdrop, we have invited an expert
from the REGINEE network to us. The objective is to provide
us with an overall energetic evaluation, based on his knowhow
and by taking account of concrete efficiency-increasing
options“, says Dr André Baade.

Companies rely on energy efficiency
The first meeting of the Bonn/Rhein-Sieg REGINEE network
took place at Reifenhäuser GmbH & Co. KG Maschinenfabrik
in Troisdorf. Jakob Aaberg, who is the energy manager and
host, explains: “We deliver our equipment and products
throughout the world and are in international competition.
As an energy-intensive company, electricity and gas prices
play an essential role. In this regard, this naturally also applies
for energy efficiency and cost savings.” This makes it all the
more important to remain up-to-date regarding legislative
developments and investment possibilities – and exchange
experiences gained with other participants. For this, the
companies from Bonn and the Rhein-Sieg district want to
meet three times a year. They are provided with professional
support by VEA and the Bonn/Rhein-Sieg Chamber of
Industry and Commerce. The network is open for additional
participants.
