<strong>Graduate</strong> programs in the Department lead to Master of Arts,<br />

Doctor of Philosophy, and Doctor of Audiology degrees. Also offered<br />

is a specialization in communication neuroscience. Information<br />

Major areas of emphasis include audiology, phonetic science, and<br />

speech-language pathology. Students, in conjunction with their<br />

supervisory committees, develop graduate programs to meet their<br />

specific needs and interests. <strong>Graduate</strong> specializations and programs<br />

in speech-language pathology and audiology are accredited by the<br />

Council on Academic Accreditation/American Speech-Language-<br />

Hearing Association. In addition, the Department offers advanced<br />

clinical training for interns and practicum students through the<br />

Speech and Hearing Center, a clinical service unit of Shands<br />

Hospital at the University of Florida. The Department has academic<br />

ties with other colleges and departments in the University and with<br />

the training and service programs of the Shands Health Care<br />

System and the Veterans Administration Medical Center, including<br />

the Brain Rehabilitation Research Center and the Rehabilitation<br />

Outcomes Research Center.<br />
