University of Florida <strong>Graduate</strong> <strong>School</strong><br />

The College of Nursing offers a program leading to the degree of Doctor of Nursing<br />

Practice (D.N.P.). The program prepares advanced practice nurses with the<br />

knowledge, skills, and abilities needed in today's complex health care environment<br />

and produces advanced practice nurses with educational background comparable to<br />

health care practitioners in other fields.<br />

Admission: To be considered for the D.N.P. program, students must meet the<br />

following minimum requirements:<br />

— A bachelor of science in nursing degree for the BSN/DNP program or a master's<br />

degree in nursing for the post master's DNP program<br />

— A GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.<br />

— A score of 500 or higher on each of the verbal and quantitative sections of the<br />

<strong>Graduate</strong> Record Examination (GRE).<br />

— Completion of the GRE analytical section.<br />

— Current licensure (or eligibility) in the state of Florida<br />

Program of study: The D.N.P. program consists of 93 credits that can be completed<br />

in 8 semesters of full-time study or 14 semesters of part-time study. Students who<br />

already have an M.S.N. degree are able to satisfy the requirements of the D.N.P.<br />

curriculum upon completion of 48 credits.<br />

Doctor of Plant Medicine<br />

The College of Agricultural and Life Sciences offers an interdisciplinary program<br />

leading to the degree of Doctor of Plant Medicine (D.P.M.). The D.P.M. degree is<br />

awarded after a 3- to 4-year program of graduate study. Foreign languages are not<br />

required. The program leading to the D.P. M. degree is administered by the College<br />

of Agricultural and Life Sciences and the <strong>Graduate</strong> <strong>School</strong>.<br />

Admission: Students must meet the following minimum requirements:<br />

— B.S. or B.A. degree, preferably in biological, agricultural, or health science.<br />

— A 3.00 grade point average in upper-division courses.<br />

— A program specific acceptable score on the GRE General Test.<br />

— Applicants from countries where English is not the native language must also<br />

achieve a satisfactory score on one of the following: TOEFL (Test of English as a<br />

Foreign Language: computer=213, paper=550, web= 80), IELTS (International<br />

English Language Testing System: 6), MELAB (Michigan English Language Assessment<br />

Battery: 77) or successful completion of the University of Florida English Language<br />

Institute program.<br />

— Evidence of good potential for academic success in at least three letters of<br />

recommendation.<br />

— Evidence of acceptable skills in written expression through personal statements<br />

briefly describing their backgrounds, reasons, and career goals for studying plant<br />

medicine.<br />
