required to teach and conduct research successfully in the area of<br />

specialization. This part of the program will be developed by the<br />

supervisory committee in conjunction with the student. The<br />

specialization courses are primarily offered within the Department of<br />

Management, although it is quite common for students to take<br />

courses in related disciplines, such as Marketing, Finance,<br />

Economics, Psychology, Statistics, and Decision and Information<br />

Systems.<br />

Procedures for the qualifying examinations, dissertation, and final<br />

examination are given in the Requirements for the Ph.D. section of<br />

this catalog.<br />

Combined Degree Program––The Department offers a<br />

bachelor's/master's program with the Department of Industrial and<br />

BUL 5445: Ethical Role of the Manager(1) Meeting the<br />

responsibilities of being entrusted with resources to manage.<br />

BUL 5810: Legal Environment of Business (3) American legal<br />

system, sources of law, adjudication, legal nature of corporation,<br />

major areas of state and federal corporate law, state and federal<br />

regulation of business, legal aspects of ethical and social<br />

responsibility of business; intellectual property, employment law,<br />

torts and contracts.<br />

BUL 5811: Managers and Legal Environment of Business (2)<br />

Designed for M.B.A. students. Law governing relationships with<br />

corporation and between corporation and social, political, and<br />

ethical environment. Business and the Constitution, litigation and<br />

dispute resolution, agency and forms of business organization, state<br />

and federal regulation of corporations and securities.<br />

BUL 5831: Commercial Law (3) Prereq: BUL 4310.Primarily for<br />

students in M.Acc. program. Contracts for sale of goods and<br />

services, documents of title, secured transactions, negotiable<br />

instruments, commercial paper, payment systems, bankruptcy, and<br />

related subjects. Emphasis on Uniform Commercial Code, federal<br />

bankruptcy act, and other federal and uniform state laws.<br />

BUL 5832: Commercial Law for Accountants(2) Prereq: level<br />

5––M.Acc. Legal ramifications of business transactions. Basic<br />

transactional areas to be studied include contracts, sales, and<br />

secured transactions. Brief review of accountants' legal liability.<br />

BUL 6440: Business Ethics and Corporation Social<br />

Responsibility (3) Practical issues of managers in addressing<br />

ethical and moral problems; emphasis on critical thinking skills and<br />

developing an analytical framework for thinking about business<br />

ethical problems.<br />

BUL 6441: Business Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility<br />

(2) Designed for advanced master's students in business<br />

administration. Ethical issues managers face in business<br />

organizations.
