numbers. Convergence in distribution. Characteristic functions.<br />

Uniqueness and continuity theorems. The Lindeberg-Feller central<br />

limit theorem. Degenerate convergence criterion.<br />

STA 7526: Theory of Nonparametric Statistics (3) Prereq: STA<br />

6526 or consent of instructor. Theoretical foundations of<br />

nonparametric statistics: theory of U-statistics, normed based<br />

methods, linear rank and signed rank statistics; Pitman efficiency;<br />

point estimation, interval estimation and tests of hypotheses; theory<br />

of robustness and its application to one sample, two sample and<br />

linear model settings; extensions to multivariate problem settings;<br />

contemporary topics in nonparametric inference.<br />

STA 7828: Topics in Stochastic Processes(3) Prereq: STA 6466<br />

and STA 6467. Branching processes, Brownian motion, continuous<br />

state space Markov chains, diffusion processes, Markov chain Monte<br />

Carlo, martingales, point processes, renewal processes, stationary<br />

processes, stochastic calculus, stochastic differential equations.<br />

a master's degree in the field of study or for students who have<br />
