The Department offers the degrees of Master of Science, Master of<br />

Engineering, and Doctor of Philosophy in nuclear engineering<br />

sciences with emphases in nuclear power engineering, medical<br />

physics, and health physics. Complete descriptions of the minimum<br />

requirements for these degrees are provided in the General<br />

Information section of this catalog.<br />

The medical physics and health physics options are offered through<br />

interdepartmental programs in cooperation with the College of<br />

Medicine (see the Health Physics and Medical Physics description<br />

under Interdisciplinary <strong>Graduate</strong> Studies).<br />

Combined Program––The Department also offers a B.S.N.E./M.S.<br />

degree program. This program allows qualified students to earn<br />

both a bachelor's degree and a master's degree with a savings of<br />

one semester. Qualified students may begin their master's program<br />

while seniors counting 12 hours of specified nuclear engineering<br />

sciences graduate courses for both the bachelor's and master's<br />

degree requirements. Seniors admitted to the combined program<br />

are eligible for teaching and research assistantships. Program<br />

admission requirements are (1) satisfaction of <strong>Graduate</strong> <strong>School</strong><br />

admission requirements for a master's degree, (2) an upper-division<br />

(undergraduate) GPA of at least 3.6, and (3) completion of specified<br />

bachelor's degree requirements.
