PHA 6116: In Vivo and In Vitro Stability of Drugs (3) Effects of<br />

various disease states, age, genetic differences, stress, nutrition,<br />

and drug interactions on drug metabolism. Offered fall term in<br />

even-numbered years.<br />

PHA 6118: Molecular Diversity (2) Combinatorial and high<br />

throughput methods to generate leads for drug discovery and<br />

accelerated drug development.<br />

PHA 6125: Pharmacokinetics and Biopharmaceutics (3)<br />

Compartmental analysis with computers. Offered spring term in<br />

even-numbered years.<br />

PHA 6170C: Pharmaceutical Product Formulation (3) Rationale<br />

and design of pharmaceutical dosage forms. Offered fall term in<br />

odd-numbered years.<br />

PHA 6183: Pharmaceutical Gene Delivery (3) Designed for<br />

graduate students researching gene delivery. Lectures on vector<br />

design and construction including review of related molecular<br />

biology and cell biology. Lectures on gene delivery systems (both<br />

viral and nonviral vectors) and their applications. Recent progress of<br />

gene therapy for human diseases including student presentations.<br />

Offered in odd-numbered years.<br />

PHA 6185: Pharmaceutical Drug Development (3) Prereq:<br />

consent of instructor. Open to graduate students and advanced<br />

Pharm.D. students. Drug development from discovery to postmarket<br />

surveillance. Good manufacturing process (GMP), good<br />

clinical practice (GCP), and good laboratory practice (GLP);<br />

intellectual property, regulatory agencies, generic approvals, and<br />

case studies.<br />

PHA 6416: Pharmaceutical Analysis I (3) Theory and<br />

applications of relevant analytical techniques for analysis of drugs in<br />

biological samples. Offered spring term in odd-numbered years.<br />

PHA 6427: Pharmacogenetics of Drug Metabolism(2)<br />

Examination of factors that affect drug disposition and response<br />

including genetics, as well as, additional factors such as<br />

environment, diet, age, and concurrent drug therapy and health<br />

status. Students will acquire an understanding of<br />

pharmacogenetics/pharmacogenomics in the context of variability in<br />

drug disposition and the application of pharmacogenetics to drug<br />

development and drug treatment.<br />

PHA 6440: Seminar in Drug Discovery (1; max: 8) Weekly<br />

presentations of research topics related to drug design and<br />

discovery. S/U option.<br />

PHA 6449: Pharmacogenomics (2) Prereq: biochemistry, PHA
