social-scientific approaches to the question of how politics (including<br />

ideologies, institutions, interests, and power relationships) shape<br />

humans' relationship with the natural environment.<br />

political dimensions of human manipulation of water, wetlands and<br />

watersheds. Topics include large-scale hydrodevelopment, commonpool<br />

resources, community-based water management,<br />

marketization, and transboundary waters. Also provides a general<br />

introduction to social-scientific theorizing on human-environment<br />

prescribe regional economic cooperation. Sub-theories and models<br />

of decision making in European Union. Processes of EU policy<br />

making including agenda setting, policy formulation, and<br />

implementation. EU legislation in selected policy areas. Salient<br />

issues facing EU policy makers.<br />

INR 6249: Inter-American Relations (3) Prereq: consent of<br />

instructor. The main purpose of this course is to provide analytical<br />

tools to understanding the historical evolution and current state of<br />

Inter-American institutions and relations. The content tries to<br />

balance theoretical analysis of some selected issues with empirical<br />

studies on recent developments in Inter-American relations.
