OF THE HISTORY GEORGIAN IDENTITY THE EXAMPLE OF MEMOIRS<br />
IN FIRST AND SECOND DECADES OF 20 TH CENTURY<br />
The present study is focused on Georgian national community at the stage of its shaping, in<br />
particular, in first and second decades of 20 th century, when process of consoli<strong>da</strong>tion was wery intensive<br />
and the sentimemts of in-group soli<strong>da</strong>rity especially salient. The said period in history of Georgia was<br />
investigated by many scholars and results of the investigations in this field are rather impressiv, however,<br />
the representation of Georgian national identity forging process still iacks relevant depth and insights. It<br />
was customary for Georgian historiography of the previous period to be concerned on objective factors<br />
while subjective factors were missed altogether.<br />
Ethno-symbolic paradigm in interpretation of nation serves as a theoretical basis for the present<br />
investigation and, accordingly, it elaborates on subjective factors like perceptions of past, shared values<br />
and symbols.<br />
In the first and second decades of 20 th century is one important and many-sauded period. There<br />
divaded two difference period: 1900-1917 and 1918-1921.<br />
The memoirs were meny times testify in the Georgian historiography, bat it isn , t utilize the process<br />
of the analizisis of the Georgian identity. The memoirs of the Georgian politikal and cultural elite are very<br />
important bazis the analizisis of the Georgian identity.<br />
