• To strengthen cooperation between national focal points for<br />
prevention of and response to natural disasters, in coordination with<br />
international and sub-regional organizations and committees such as the<br />
Caribbean Disaster Emergency Response Agency-(CDERA), the Centre<br />
for the Prevention of Natural Disasters in Central America<br />
(CEPREDENAC), the Andean Committee for Disaster Prevention and Relief<br />
(CAPRADE), and the Civil Defense and International Humanitarian<br />
Assistance Meeting of MERCOSUR.<br />
• To promote the fostering and exchange of best practices for the reduction<br />
of the risks related to natural disasters at regional and sub-regional levels.<br />
• To promote education and training in the field of environmental<br />
protection so as to generate collective awareness and consequently mitigate<br />
the effects of man-made natural disasters.<br />
• To promote the convening of regional meetings to advance the<br />
implementation of these objectives.<br />
9. Promotion of Human Rights and Fight against Racism<br />
• To foster and strengthen international cooperation for the promotion<br />
and protection of all human rights and fundamental freedoms, in accordance<br />
with the purposes and principles enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations<br />
and in International Law.<br />
• To foster the exchange of national experiences in the preparation and<br />
presentation of reports to the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) mechanism and<br />
other international mechanisms, in accordance with the commitments of each country.<br />
• To promote the recognition and implementation of third generation or<br />
solidarity rights, in particular the right to development.<br />
• To strengthen regional and international cooperation in the fight against<br />
racism and discrimination, including in the context of the preparation of the<br />
Durban Review Conference against Racism, Racial Discrimination,<br />
Xenophobia and Related Intolerance.<br />
10. Movement of persons and Migration<br />
• To facilitate the integration of migrants in the countries of destination<br />
and promote the facilitation of residence, work and regularization, in<br />
accordance with national legislation.<br />
