Communiqué to Support the Request by the Centro-American
Integration System to the European Comission to continue granting
to Panama the SGP+ regime benefits
REQUESTS the European Commission to continue granting to Panama
the benefits of the special regime to foster sustainable development and
governance (SGP+) for the period 2009-2011, so as not to affect the existing
trade flow and jobs in a country that has demonstrated full compliance with
the substantive requirements for continuing to be associated with this
cooperation scheme.
Communiqué to support Bolivia
The countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, on the occasion of
the Summit held in Salvador (Bahia):
REITERATE the importance of the indispensable collaboration and
cooperation concerning trade promotion,
AWARE that the common struggle against the world problem of drugs is
a priority not only of our region but also of other countries and blocs of States;
URGE the Government of the United States of America to continue granting
to Bolivia the benefits of the Andean Trade Promotion and Drug Eradication
Act (ATPDEA), in view of its effect on trade flows and employment in Bolivia,
and encourage the Governments of the United States and Bolivia to undertake
efforts within a framework of dialogue and mutual respect aimed at continuing
cooperation in this area.
CALC initiative as regards the World Financial Crisis
The Heads of State and Chiefs of Government of Latin America and the
Caribbean convened in Salvador, Bahia, 16-17 December 2008:
Considering the need to agree upon a common Latin American and
Caribbean position in the face of the international financial crisis and the
necessary changes to advance towards a new financial architecture;
