Pointing out that the Heads of State and Chiefs of Government have
agreed upon the need to ensure the continuity of the Latin American and
Caribbean coordination process concerning the great challenges mentioned
above;
Decide:
To set up a high-level Working Group consisting of eminent specialists
from each country in Latin America and the Caribbean. The objective of this
Working Group would be to prepare and propose common positions and a
shared and well-defined stance to face the international financial crisis and to
build a new financial architecture.
The first session of the financial Working Group will take place at a regional
meeting to be held 16 March 2009 in Santiago, Chile. The group will be
coordinated by Chile.
The main characteristics of both the common positions and the specific
initiatives will be values inherent to cooperation and solidarity, aimed at widening
the horizons to a renewed Latin American and Caribbean vision for the 21 st
century.
