Background:
The Center for Studies in Dog and Cat Nutrition (NENAC)
was created in 2004 by Professor Flávia Maria de Oliveira
Borges Saad and graduate students of the Department
of Zootechnics of the Federal University of Lavras with
the purpose of gathering professionals, students, and
professors who are interested in and/or perform activities
related to the study, nutrition and production of pet food,
fostering the constant development and improvement of
its members in all related areas.
Overall Objectives:
To foster integration among members by means of
technical-scientific and cultural meetings, seminars,
technical visits, courses and other events that may help
the dissemination and debate of knowledge related to
the relevant area.
Areas of Expertise:
1. Research: Design, production and publication of
research papers; collaboration in designing, structuring
and implementing research, teaching and extension
units in pet nutrition.
2. Teaching: Fostering information exchange and
cooperation with similar entities; elaboration and
execution of agreements and partnerships (among
others) and adequate coordination with national and
international public and private bodies and entities.
3. Fostering the improvement and development of
professors, undergraduate and graduate students;
structuring and maintaining a database of researchers
and publications on pet nutrition; maintaining a
bibliographic collection on the subject.
4. Extension: Organization and execution of extension
activities such as field work, lectures, courses and
training for students and professionals in the area.
