Background:
The Federal University of Lavras (UFLA), in a
pioneering initiative, proposed in 1995 the signing
of an agreement between UFLA and the National
Coffee Council (CNC), thus creating NECAF - Center
for Studies in Coffee Growing in the university’s
Department of Agriculture, nowadays part of the
Coffee Innovation Agency (INOVACAFÉ). We have a
new extension project, NECAF in the Field, which aims
to spread technologies to producers, assisting them in
the most diverse coffee production activities such as
soil analysis and recommendation, foliar analysis,
integrated pest and disease management. NECAF
is headquartered in the Coffee Innovation Agency
(INOVACAFÉ), opportunely located in the geographic
center of Brazilian coffee production. In this way, it is
inserted in the region.
Overall Objectives:
To bring together professionals, students, professors,
producers and technicians interested and/or engaged
in activities related to the study of processing and
storage of agricultural products; to promote courses,
symposiums, seminars, technical meetings, lectures,
debates, field work and other events which may
contribute to enhance knowledge.
