Background:
NEMAC was founded in 2003 by Professor José
Eduardo Brasil Pereira Pinto with the purpose of
organizing courses, symposiums, seminars, technical
meetings, lectures, debates, establishing agreements
with various institutions for the development of
undergraduate and graduate students in teaching,
research and extension of medicinal, aromatic and
flavoring plants.
Overall Objectives:
To organize courses for students, professionals,
technicians, producers and other interested parties; to
foster the constant development of students; and to raise
awareness among society of the importance of medicinal,
aromatic and flavoring plants as an alternative to generate
income and promote social welfare.
Areas of Expertise:
1. Extension: Training in human resources and
dissemination of scientific knowledge on medicinal,
aromatic and flavoring plants to society.
2. Research: Involvement of undergraduate and
graduate students in research through the execution
of scientific projects and participation in national and
international events.
3. Teaching: Through local and regional events the
center aims to spread scientific knowledge and the
importance of medicinal, aromatic and flavoring
plants.
4. Social welfare: Events geared towards the local
community seek to raise awareness of the use of
medicinal, aromatic and flavoring plants.
