Background:

Founded in 2013, the Bioethics and Law Laboratory is

dedicated to collaborative and interdisciplinary work,

committed to the solid academic training of its members,

based on the inseparability between teaching, research

and extension, combined with an entrepreneurial and

reflexive attitude that fosters the capacity for autonomous

and dynamic learning. Composed of professors,

researchers and students, it develops its activities from

the identification and examination of bioethical and legal

problems related to human health. We are interested in

dialoguing with national and foreign research groups

from different areas of knowledge, seeking mobility

actions, collective publications, organization of events,

development of innovative teaching-learning strategies

and resources for e-learning and b-learning, as well as

exchanges of experiences and knowledge.

Overall Objectives:

To contribute towards the innovative solution of bioethical

and legal problems related to human health, including the

following topics of interest: access to and humanization

of health care, informed consent, refusal of medical

treatment, palliative care and death planning.

Areas of Expertise:

1. Experimental Bioethics: Training on the ethical and legal

regulation of scientific investigations involving human

beings.

2. Clinical Bioethics: Training and consulting on ethical

and legal issues involved in clinical practice and health

care decision-making processes.

3. Medical Law: Execution of research projects, organization

of events and development of opinions within the sphere of

the right to health.
