Background:
In December 2012, Professor Luiz Gonsaga de Carvalho/
DEG, together with his supervisees, devised the creation of
a study center in agrometeorology and related areas. Thus,
on January 31, 2013 the center was unofficially founded
as NEACLIM - Center for Studies in Agrometeorology,
Climatology e Meteorology. The following members were
creators/founders of NEACLIM: Professor Luiz Gonsaga
de Carvalho; Wezer L. Miranda, doctorate candidate -
PPGRHSA; Gabriel M. Carvalho (second term), Guilherme
H. da Silva (second term), Pietros A. B. dos Santos
(seventh term), Lucas Centurion (seventh term), Márcia
E. Amâncio H. F. Figueiredo (sixth term) and Rodrigo V.
Moreira (tenth term), agricultural engineering students;
Ana Luiza S. Ferreira (second term), Rafaella C. P. Alves
(second term) and Wesley R. Soler (sixth term), agronomy
students; and Thaline B. S. da Silva (third term), forest
engineering student.
Overall Objectives:
To organize courses, symposiums, seminars,
technical meetings, lectures, debates, field work
and other events that can contribute to enhance
knowledge, besides fostering the constant training
and improvement of undergraduate and graduate
students in teaching, research and extension
activities in those areas.
Areas of Expertise:
1. Climate change and sustainability of agroecosystems:
Study of “”climate change”” scenarios and their
interference in production systems.
2. Astronomical relations between the Earth and
the Sun: This is essential for the understanding of
meteorology and related sciences.
3. Surface meteorological observations and
agrometeorological instruments: Obtaining and
organizing meteorological elements collected by
meteorological stations composed of meteorological
measurement equipment.
4. Psychrometry: A branch of science dedicated to
the analysis of the physical and thermodynamic
properties of gas-vapor mixtures and their practical
applications.
