Background:
At one o’clock p.m. on March 17, 2015 the
undergraduate students in nutrition of the Federal
University of Lavras met under the chairmanship of
the supervising professor Josilene Nascimento Seixas,
of the Department of Health Sciences, to found a study
group in comparative pathology to develop activities
related to pathology (human/animal). Its purpose is
to assist students taking the discipline of pathology
(general or human) to better understand contents
addressed in class; to provide the constant learning and
improvement of its members in all areas of knowledge
related to pathology; to carry out extension activities by
organizing courses, symposiums, seminars, technical
gatherings, lectures, debates and other events that
may contribute to enhance knowledge in pathology;
to design, execute and/or divulge research work in
the area of pathology in different fields of knowledge
and professional activity (nutrition, biology, medicine,
veterinary medicine, among other health areas), or
even of other professionals interested in the area.
Overall Objectives:
To bring together students and professionals from
different health areas in order to: provide constant
learning and improvement of knowledge in pathology;
design, execute and/or disseminate research in
the area; facilitate the understanding of contents
addressed in pathology classes and related disciplines.
Areas of Expertise:
1. Teaching: Weekly meetings to discuss topics (review
articles or research papers) or give lectures related to
content addressed in pathology classes.
2. Research: Involving students in the planning,
execution and/or discussion of research papers
focused on pathology for the study of causes, lesions
and mechanisms.
3. Extension: Organizing visits and technical
gatherings, courses, symposiums, seminars, lectures,
debates and other events in the area of health,
especially related to pathology.
