Background:
Forestry Engineering Projects and Consulting is a non-profit
civil organization with educational purposes, conceived
and run by forestry engineering students of the Federal
University of Lavras. Founded on June 26, 2013, it counts
on professors to help, working in several areas within the
university to supervise students in order to guarantee the
quality of the services provided. Currently, the Floresta
Junior team consists in 20 undergraduate students in forest
engineering and one professor from the Federal University of
Lavras coordinating the activities. Three social projects have
already been carried out, two with philanthropic institutions
from the Lavras community and one with a municipal school,
involving environmental projects.
Overall Objectives:
To encourage the personal and professional growth of
members by preparing them for the labor market; to
perform specific diagnoses/reports in the area of expertise;
to provide consulting services, prioritizing service to
individuals and companies in difficulty of access to services
and social organizations.
Areas of Expertise:
1. Forest inventory: Provision of information to support the
management of forest resources and the development of
plans for the use and conservation of forest resources.
2. Agronomic recipe: Prescription and technical guidance
for the use of agrochemicals or phytosanitary products.
3. Environmental legislation: Planning and controling the
environmental impact. Advisory on and aid with measures
consistent with state and/or national environmental
legislation.
4. Services: Mapping and topographing survey of areas
for forest inventory, forest management and Rural
Environmental Register. Courses and analysis in different
areas of the Forest Engineering.
