Background:
The Center for Studies in Canine Reproduction
stemmed from the initiative of a group of students
in veterinary medicine interested in more advanced
studies on reproduction biotechnology in dogs. The
group has experience in evaluating reproduction
parameters in dogs and applying biotechnology
in the reproduction of dogs, such as artificial
insemination.
Overall Objectives:
To generate knowledge in the field of reproductive
physiology and artificial insemination in dogs; to
offer assistance services to dog owners in the areas of
andrology, cytology and artificial insemination.
Areas of Expertise:
1. Artificial Insemination: Insemination technique with
fresh, cooled or frozen semen when natural conditions
are not possible.
2. Andrological Exam: Evaluation of quality parameters
of dog semen.
3. Reproductive diseases: Diagnosis of diseases that
affect reproduction in dogs.
4. Diagnosis of best moment for mating: Evaluation
techniques by vaginal cytology of the precise moment
for natural or artificial insemination.
