Background:
The center was founded in July 2015, based on the
project submitted to the First Teaching Project Support
Program (PAPP), of the Office of the Dean of Planning
and Management (PROPLAG), from January 2015, which
proposed to create a center for studies and research
in language teaching and learning, due to the lack of
appropriate materials and equipment for the application
and development of methodological strategies related
to the teaching and learning of Portuguese, English and
Brazilian Sign Language, and the lack of systematized data
on the teaching and learning of English, thus enabling the
optimization of material and human resources to achieve
the goals of the university’s internationalization project
and meet the demand for extension courses in the area
of language teaching and learning, increasing interaction
with the internal and external communities.
Overall Objectives:
To foster reflection on the teaching and learning processes
of languages (English, Brazilian Sign Language and
Portuguese).
Areas of Expertise:
1. English Language: Organization of extension and
research courses on teaching-learning processes of English.
2. Brazilian Sign Language: Organization of extension
and research courses on teaching-learning processes of
Brazilian Sign Language.
3. Portuguese Language: Organization of extension
and research courses on teaching-learning processes of
Portuguese.
