Table 2.9 presents the distribution of households by household characteristics, according to
residence. Overall, 38 percent of households in Timor-Leste have electricity; four-fifths (83 percent)
of households in urban areas have electricity, compared with about one in four (24 percent)
households in rural areas. The 2009-10 TLDHS findings show that the proportion of households with
electricity has increased over the past five years, growing from 26 percent in 2003.
