Among male cigarette smokers, two-fifths smoked <strong>10</strong> or more cigarettes, one-fourth smoked<br />

3 to 5 cigarettes, one-fifth smoked 6 to 9 cigarettes, <strong>and</strong> one-eighth smoked 1 to 2 cigarettes in the 24<br />

hours prior to the survey. Among women who smoked, half smoked just 1 to 2 cigarettes, one-fourth<br />

smoked 3 to 5 cigarettes, <strong>and</strong> one in ten smoked either 6 to 9 or <strong>10</strong> or more cigarettes in the past 24<br />

hours.<br />
