not work in the past seven days but who are regularly employed <strong>and</strong> were absent from work for leave,<br />

illness, vacation, or any other such reason.<br />

unpaid work may not be especially meaningful in a society with high rates <strong>of</strong> subsistence living.<br />

Current employment rises from 18 percent among women in Lautem to 85 percent among women in<br />

Oecussi. Current employment is highest among women with no education <strong>and</strong> lowest among women<br />

with secondary education. Current employment varies inversely with wealth quintile, rising from 32<br />

percent among women in the wealthiest households to 49 percent among women in the poorest<br />

households.<br />
