Article 806<br />
Health Benefits<br />
806.01 The <strong>Board</strong> shall provide one or more health benefit<br />
plans to teachers. As of January 1, 2010, the only such<br />
plans are the Preferred Provider Organization (“PPO”)<br />
plan and the Exclusive Provider Organization (“EPO”)<br />
plan. Those two plans, along with the prescription drug<br />
plan(s), will remain in effect as they existed in May 2009<br />
untilchanged by thedecision of the Joint CEA/<strong>Board</strong> of<br />
Education Insurance Committee established in Section<br />
806.05 below. The <strong>Board</strong> will implement best practices<br />
at the time they are required by the <strong>State</strong>’s School<br />
Employees Health Care <strong>Board</strong> to be effective.<br />
806.02 During the term of this <strong>Agreement</strong>, a member of the<br />
bargaining unit married to, or the domestic partner of<br />
another employee of the <strong>Board</strong>, both of whom are eligible<br />
for the benefits provided in Section 806.01 above<br />
and who have no dependents, shall be provided two (2)<br />
single plans or one (1) single plus one plan at the option<br />
of such employees. In addition, such personnel shall be<br />
provided family coverage effective on the first day of the<br />
month in which they acquire a dependent eligible for<br />
coverage, provided they advise the <strong>Board</strong> of their eligibility<br />
for family coverage no later than thirty (30) days after<br />
becoming eligible for the change in status. If the notification<br />
requirement is not met within the thirty (30) day<br />
period, family coverage will be effective on the first day<br />
of the month following such notification.<br />
806.03 During the term of this <strong>Agreement</strong>, members of the<br />
bargaining unit may elect to enroll in a health maintenance<br />
organization offered by the <strong>Board</strong> as an alternative<br />
to theprogram provided above in Section 806.01. Such<br />
election shall be in accordance with the following:<br />
A. The employee shall pay, bythebiweekly payroll<br />
deduction schedule, the difference between the cost<br />
of the health maintenance organization and the<br />
<strong>Board</strong>’s cost for such employee coverage as provided<br />
in Section 806.04 below.<br />
B. Teachers may change their status under this program<br />
with regard to enrollment,withdrawal, or change to<br />
other plans during the enrollment period.<br />
806.04 The <strong>Board</strong> shall contribute the amounts derived<br />
from the following percentages toward the monthly<br />
funding (“premium”) cost for health benefits for onehalf<br />
time or more teachers and for full-time hourly professional<br />
employees based on the “benchmark plan.” The<br />
“benchmark plan” is the PPO unless and until the plans<br />
are changed by the Joint CEA/<strong>Board</strong> of Education<br />
Insurance Committee. If theJointCEA/<strong>Board</strong> of<br />
Education Insurance Committee offers three or more<br />
