the Office of Management Services shall only be made<br />

on a school-by-school basis where the need exists to<br />

accommodate bus schedules. No teacher shall be<br />

deprived of at least a thirty (30) minute uninterrupted<br />

duty-free lunch period. The thirty (30) minutes before<br />

classes and fifteen (15) minutes after classes provided in<br />

Article 204.01 will normally be changed to forty-five<br />

(45) minutes before classes and fifteen (15) minutes after<br />

classes in elementary schools with a one-hour lunch period<br />

established as a result of this provision.<br />

Article 205<br />

Building Staff Meetings<br />

205.01 All teachers assigned to a school building will be<br />

required to attend two (2) regular building-level staff/inservice<br />

meetings per month if called by the principal of<br />

that school. In-service meetings tied to the early release<br />

of students shall not count as one (1) of these two (2)<br />

meetings. In-service meetings will include topics related<br />

to multicultural education. Except in the case of emergency,<br />

or as provided below, such required staff/in-service<br />

meetings will not extend beyond forty-five (45) minutes<br />

after the teacher’s scheduled workday.<br />

205.02 In addition to the regular building-level staff/inservice<br />

meetings, the principal, in consultation with the<br />

Association Building Council, may schedule two (2)<br />

forty-five (45) minute building level staff meetings per<br />

month and/or extend one (1) required building-level<br />

staff/in-service meeting per month a maximum of thirty<br />

(30) minutes beyond the limitations in 205.01 above for<br />

purposes of staff development. Attendance at such additional<br />

meetings or extensionwillbevoluntary unless a<br />

majority of the staff has voted by secret ballot to require<br />

attendance at a particular meeting. In the case of such<br />

meeting, at which attendance is required, the Association<br />

Building Council shall assist the principal in developing<br />

the program and agenda.<br />

205.03 Announcements concerning Association activities<br />

may be madebytheAssociation’s faculty representative<br />

at the conclusion of staff meetings.<br />

205.04 Regular building-level staff/in-service meetings will<br />

normally be scheduled on Mondays. If, due to unusual<br />

circumstances, there is a need to hold a meeting on a different<br />

day, the staff will be advised as far in advance as is<br />

practical and reasonable. Except in the case of emergency,<br />

theprincipal shall not schedule building-level staff/inservice<br />

meetings in the afternoon of the first Thursday of<br />

each month during the regular school year.<br />

205.05 Theprincipal shall designate one full day at the<br />

beginning of the school year as being for the teacher’s<br />

ownprofessional utilization at his/her assigned building.<br />
