JointCCS/CEA Teacher Evaluation Committee<br />

Change the current evaluation process to implement the<br />

recommendations of the Joint CCS/CEA Teacher<br />

Evaluation Committee. The implementation must occur the<br />

following school year (2010–2011). No other evaluating<br />

tools will beusedintheevaluationoftheteacher.<br />

Re: Negotiations Discussions<br />

Dear Mr. Logan:<br />

This letter memorializes the discussion between the representatives<br />

of the CEA and the Columbus <strong>Board</strong> of<br />

Education in this year’s negotiations regarding certain issues.<br />

1. The parties will establish a joint committee to<br />

study and, if deemed appropriate by a consensus<br />

of the committee, make recommendations to<br />

theSuperintendent and the President of the<br />

Association with respect to student discipline<br />

in middle schools. The Superintendent/<br />

designee will modify the assignment of the<br />

dean of students in middle schools where<br />

deemed appropriate to in-school discipline<br />

duties.<br />

2. The parties agree to refer the following two<br />

issues to their Labor-Management Committee:<br />

the class load forrelatedservices staff; and the<br />

impact of the <strong>State</strong>’s biennial budget for 2009–<br />

10 and 2010–11 after enactment.<br />

3. The District plans to increase reading tutoring<br />

in theprimary grades and guidance counselor<br />

services in K–8 schools.<br />

4. The District’s Human Resources office is committed<br />

to using its best efforts to cover class<br />

time during professional development for<br />

teachers and will consider reinstating employment<br />

of “supersubstitutes.”<br />

5. With respect to the quarterly diagnostic tests,<br />

the Association’s representatives on the Testing<br />

and Assessment Committee may participate in<br />

thereview of Requests for Proposals/Requests<br />

for Quotations submitted by testing or assess-<br />
