Article 901<br />

Salary Policies<br />

901.01 It is the conviction of the <strong>Board</strong> and the Association<br />

that salaries should be at a level which will enable teachers<br />

to assume a place in the community in keeping with<br />

the importanceoftheirworkandwhichwillprovide<br />

security for their later years.<br />

901.02 Progress toward maximum salaries shall be made by<br />

increments.<br />

A. A full increment shall be granted to members who<br />

have served 120 or more school days within a given<br />

school year.<br />

B. Those teachers currently employed by the <strong>Board</strong> who<br />

have received credit for partial increment shall continue<br />

to receive the amount of that partial increment<br />

in effect prior to this <strong>Agreement</strong>.<br />

C. Salary column placement for training beyond the<br />

bachelor’s degree shall be effective the earning period<br />

following the submission of the required documentation<br />

to the Human Resources Department.<br />

901.03 Half-time contractteaching shall qualify for a year<br />

of teaching experience for salary credit purposes with the<br />

following stipulations:<br />

A. The teacher has served 120 or more school days within<br />

each of two school years.<br />

B. The two years being combined shall be for services in<br />

the Columbus City Schools.<br />

C. This provision shall be applied to qualifying service<br />

provided after July 1, 1983.<br />

901.04 Credit for years of teaching experience outside the<br />

Columbus City School District for salary purposes, up<br />

to a maximum of five (5) years, shall be granted to teachers<br />

with a Trades and Industries certificate who are initially<br />

employed to teach under such certificate, in accordance<br />

with the guidelines established under Section<br />

904.05. After initial employment, members of the bargaining<br />

unit reassigned into a Trades and Industries<br />

teaching area or reassigned out of a Trades and Industries<br />

teaching area shall not have their outside teaching experience<br />

for salary purposes re-evaluated on the basis of such<br />

guidelines. This section shall be applicable to all teachers,<br />

with a vocational education teaching certificate/<br />

license and hire date of July 1, 1992, or later, who are initially<br />

employed to teach under such certificate. OWE<br />

and OWA shall not be considered a Trades and Industries<br />

or vocational teaching area for purposes described<br />

in this section. Experience credit for vocational teachers<br />

hiredonorafter July 1, 2000, based upon documented<br />

other related employment or related self-employment, up<br />

to ten (10) years’ experience. If years of experience are<br />

used as a substituteforadegreeandtheteacher subsequently<br />

obtains a degree after July 1, 2000, those years of<br />
