with or interruptnormalschooloperations. Such<br />

approval shall not be arbitrarily or capriciously withheld.<br />

109.07<br />

A. ThePresident and/or Vice President of the<br />

Association, upon request of the Association by June<br />

1, shall be granted an unpaid leave of absence. Such<br />

leaves shall be granted for one (1) school year and<br />

shall be renewed upon request of the Association by<br />

June 1 of eachyear.Thespecific individuals on such<br />

leaves shall not be changed during the school year<br />

except as a result of a change in elected officers of the<br />

Association and with thirty (30) days notification to<br />

the <strong>Board</strong>. The President and Vice President shall be<br />

given full experience credit on the salary schedule for<br />

the period ofsuch leave.<br />

B. Upon request of the Association by June 1, up to ten<br />

(10) additional designees of the Association shall be<br />

granted unpaid leaves of absence. Such leaves shall be<br />

granted for one (1) school year and shall be renewed<br />

for one (1) school year upon request of the Association<br />

by June 1. The increase from six to 10 designees<br />

shall be effective in the 2001-2002 school year. Such<br />

designees shall not be changed during the school<br />

year.<br />

C. The Association shall reimburse the <strong>Board</strong> for the<br />

cost of the teacher’s and <strong>Board</strong>’s contributions to the<br />

<strong>State</strong>Teachers Retirement System on behalf of each<br />

teacher on leave as provided in Paragraphs A and B<br />

above, which will include the cost for up to 55 additional<br />

days (for a total of up to 250 days in each<br />

school year) at the teacher’s daily rate of pay based<br />

on the salary schedules in Article 902. The continuation<br />

of insurance benefits for such teachers shall be<br />

contingent upon timely monthly payment of the premium<br />

to the <strong>Board</strong>.<br />

109.08 TheAssociation faculty representatives and/or governors<br />

may request the principal’s permission to use individual<br />

school office equipment and audio-visual equipment<br />

when such equipment is not otherwise in use. Such<br />

permission shall not be arbitrarily or capriciously withheld.<br />

109.09 Upon written request to the <strong>Board</strong> prior to<br />

September 30, the Association shall be provided a regularly<br />

scheduled period of fifteen (15) minutes of air time<br />

each week on WCBE Radio after 3:30 p.m. for educational<br />

programs and announcements (so long as the<br />

<strong>Board</strong> retains the license for WCBE).<br />

109.10 The members of the Association’s <strong>Board</strong> of<br />

Governors and/or the Association’s faculty representa-<br />
