Article 206<br />
Teaching Environment and New Buildings<br />
206.03 Teachers shall be permitted to have coffee-making<br />
devices and coffee and soft drink vending machines in<br />
theteachers’ lounges as space permits. Teachers shall be<br />
permitted to have efficiency-type ranges, microwave<br />
ovens and refrigerators in teachers’ lounges as space and<br />
the availability of utilities permit. All such devices and<br />
equipment shall be maintained by the faculty. Teachers<br />
shall not be required to perform the custodial duties in<br />
the staff lounge and shall not be required to prepare<br />
food, clean tables or perform other significant custodial<br />
chores in connection with the lunch programs. Teachers<br />
who use the staff lounge or use the appliances in the staff<br />
lounge may be required to share in the cleaning of the<br />
appliances, to keep their personal property cleaned and<br />
stored and to leave their eatingareainaclean and orderly<br />
condition. The expenditure of any profits realized from<br />
the above-mentioned vendingmachines shall be in accordance<br />
with guidelines established by the principal in consultation<br />
with the Association Building Council where<br />
the development of such guidelines are requested by the<br />
Association Building Council.<br />
206.07 Where an extension telephone for the use of the<br />
professional staff is not presently available in a school<br />
building, one shall be installed upon request of the<br />
Association Building Council. The location of the extension<br />
telephone shall be determined by the principal. Such<br />
telephones may not be locked during the normal school<br />
day or teachers otherwise unreasonably inconvenienced<br />
in their use.<br />
206.10 The expenditure of any profits received from fundraising<br />
projects for a school’s General Fund in which<br />
teachers were directly involved may be considered by the<br />
Association Building Council with appropriate recommendations<br />
to the principal.<br />
Article 208<br />
Classroom Atmosphere<br />
208.03 Theprincipal, in consultation with his/her<br />
Association Building Council, will establish procedures<br />
for the administration of all forms of discipline within<br />
the school. Such will include procedures related to suspension<br />
and recommendation for expulsion. Written<br />
building discipline plans shall be in place at the beginning<br />
of the school year. Failure of a principal to establish<br />
abuilding discipline plan by the first day of student<br />
attendance is grievable at Step 2 of the grievance procedure.<br />
In the event the principal is newly appointed, transferred<br />
or assigned, such failure must first be brought to<br />
his/her attention in writing at least ten (10) calendar<br />
