Insurance Program to include coverage for one (1) routine<br />
mammogram per year at the usual, customary and<br />
reasonable charge. The next revision of the Major<br />
Medical Program Benefits Handbook will reflect such<br />
change.<br />
Distance Education<br />
AjointCEA/<strong>Board</strong>committee will be formed to develop<br />
guidelines, review the system’s practices, continuation,<br />
and/or expansion plans in the utilization of distance education<br />
through telecommunications and multimedia<br />
technology. Such recommendations will reflect the parties<br />
continued recognition of the importance of personal<br />
interaction between student and teacher to the learning<br />
process.<br />
Professional Behavior<br />
AjointCEA/<strong>Board</strong>committee will mutually develop a<br />
more clearly defined progressive discipline process for<br />
teachers. This process may include a variety of options.<br />
Any additional disciplinary option shall meet the test of<br />
just cause and shall not be arbitrarily or capriciously<br />
applied.<br />
Letter of Understanding<br />
This letter of understanding is entered into on August 25,<br />
2000, in connection with the agreement between the<br />
Columbus Education Association and the Columbus <strong>Board</strong> of<br />
Education.<br />
1. The reserve pool of substitute teachers needs to be referenced<br />
in the recognition Article of the contract.<br />
2. The <strong>Board</strong> will comply with all language of the contract<br />
that is not changed in this round of negotiations, including<br />
Article 208.<br />
3. Item six (6) on page nine of the training manual for<br />
Article 211 shall be rewritten to read: “mutual agreement<br />
by Personnel Director and CEA regarding a philosophical<br />
difference or health and safety.<br />
4. The parties will make grammatical and punctuation<br />
changes to the contract that do not change the meaning.<br />
Letter of Understanding<br />
Teacher Retiring & Re-employment<br />
The Ohio Revised Code requires a break in service and a<br />
two (2) month waiting period prior to re-employment.<br />
<strong>Agreement</strong> to waive this requirement is a matter to be<br />
addressed by the <strong>State</strong> Teacher Retirement System and the<br />
teacher.<br />
1. New <strong>Employment</strong> Application<br />
The <strong>Board</strong> of Education retains the right to decide<br />
whether to hire a retiree and that decision will be<br />
made on a case-by-case basis. Teachers who retire and<br />
