C. Assist with Routine Building Activities<br />
1. Keeping attendance and homework records.<br />
2. Assisting teachers with housekeeping duties and keeping<br />
storerooms tidy.<br />
3. Assisting teachers in case of an accident or illness of a child.<br />
4. Escorting children to and from various places in the building–assembly<br />
seating, picture taking, visits to nurse.<br />
5. Assisting atdoorsandwalkwaysatdismissal to prevent loitering<br />
and pupil contention.<br />
6. Supervising lunchrooms, halls playgrounds, study halls,<br />
restrooms, and the loading and unloading of school buses<br />
with the understanding that an Assistant shall at all times<br />
be under the direction ofateacher.<br />
7. Helping inclassrooms or special rooms during indoor<br />
recess.<br />
8. Supervising playground clean-up and checking equipment<br />
for safety.<br />
9. Assisting the teacher-supervisor of the School Patrol.<br />
10. Helping with inventories of textbooks, physical education<br />
equipment, audio-visual equipment and educational materials.<br />
11. Organizing and operating lost and found departments.<br />
12. Acting as hostess to pre-school parents during health<br />
appraisals.<br />
13. Helping with extra-curricular activities as student council,<br />
parties, or hobby groups.<br />
D. Assist with Clerical Duties<br />
1. Building up and filing resource materials for various teaching<br />
units.<br />
2. Keeping and maintaining a folder of representative work<br />
on each child.<br />
3. Setting up and maintaining seating charts.<br />
4. Sending for free and inexpensive classroom material.<br />
5. Keeping records of books children have read.<br />
6. Collecting monies - lunch and milk money, PTA dues, pictures,<br />
classroom books, yearbooks, and magazines.<br />
7. Assembling and distributing materials.<br />
8. Operating the ditto, mimeograph and copy machines.<br />
9. Recording names, addresses on absence cards, records, tests<br />
sheets, and grade cards.<br />
10. Proofreading materials.<br />
11. Typing ditto masters and stencils.<br />
12. Checking and posting attendance.<br />
E. Responsibilities the Instructional assistant Shall Not Perform<br />
1. Making and maintaining the office records.<br />
2. Making the monthly report.<br />
3. Teaching a skill or concept.<br />
4. Working on cumulative records, test profiles and registers.<br />
5. Substituting for absent certificated employees.<br />
