Shoshanna leftHungary at the end of June 1944 on the train of the Relief and <strong>Rescue</strong>Committee.In 1945 she made aliya and arrived in Kibbutz Negba which she left in1946. After the German invasion of Hungaryon 19.3.1944, although she was only thirteen, Herta ran various errandsfor the Zionist youth movements underground. She was sent to meetingplaces to hand out forged documents and give news. Herta visitedbunkers of the movement while carrying a schoolbag. At a later stage shestayed in the bunker on Hungary Boulevard in Budapest. The bunker wasdiscovered and its dwellers fell into the hands of the fascists. Herta wasimprisoned and served as a nurse in a military hospital.
