Reichman EzraReichman ErnőBorn in Kunágota in February 1926Fell in the War of Independence in the battle forthe Castel Member of “Hashomer Hatzair”Ezra attended elementary school in his hometown and then studied at theJewish high school in Budapest. After the Germans invaded Hungary on19.3.1944, he went underground. Ezra engaged in obtaining authenticdocuments from the offices of the Population Registry in the capital. Heengaged in transferring equipment for the forgery of documents and inhiding it. In May 1944 he traveled to Vésztø in order to give forgedChristian papers to <strong>David</strong> <strong>Gur</strong>-Grosz’ sister, Miriam (nowadays Reshef),and help her escape to Budapest. His mission did not go off very well dueto the family’s opposition. In June 1944 Ezra fled from Hungary in theframework of the tiyul and that same year he arrived in Eretz Israel(Palestine). He stayed for some time in Kibbutz Ramat Hashofet in theframework of a garin. Ezra moved to Jerusalem and studied biology atuniversity. In November 1947 he married Aczél Marika, now Hanna Oren.During the War of Independence Ezra volunteered for service in thestudents’ unit. He fought in the battles for the conquest of the Castel andfell there. Ezra’s parents perished in Auschwitz.Reisman JosephReisman JoszkeBorn in Kisvárda on 26.2.1923Died on 30.8.1989 in IsraelMember of “Dror Habonim”In April 1944, in Kisvárda, Joseph was enlisted in a forced labor unit andsent to Kassa. He ran away from the service thanks to forged documentshe had received from Efra and Tzippi Agmon. He arrived in the “GlassHouse” on Vadász Street in Budapest and became a liaison personunder a fictitious identity. He moved around the city riding a motorbikeand took food and documents to the people who needed them. He wassent by Simha Hunwald to release five comrades who were beingdeported and already inside a wagon. With great courage he succeededin setting them free and taking them to the “Glass House”. Joseph joinedthe ranks of the fascist unit, “Skulls of the Dead”, and within thisframework he saved Jews. When the city was liberated, Joseph was<strong>Brothers</strong> for <strong>Resistance</strong> and <strong>Rescue</strong> 191
