Weisz EliezerWeisz LászlóBorn in Miskolc on 16.11.1923Died on 2.02.2008 in IsraelMember of “Bnei Akiva”In April 1944 Eliezer was enlisted in a forced labor unit, escaped andjoined the “Bnei Akiva” movement. He operated with false documentsunder the name of Vitéz József, ran errands and took part in thepreparation of the bunkers. After the Arrow Cross rose to power on15.10.1944, Eliezer distributed Protection Documents to the members ofa battalion of forced labor units on its way to Germany. Together with twoof his comrades wearing the Arrow Cross uniform, he saved a group of140 Jews, who were headed for the banks of the Danube River where thefascists were going to shoot them, and took them to the ghetto. Eliezersaved the lives of Jewish patients in an Aryan hospital on WesselényiStreet and took them too to the ghetto. After the liberation he gatheredJewish orphans and took them to children’s houses. In August 1946 hemade aliya.Eliezer worked in citrus plantations, construction, a textile factory inPetah-Tikva and later in the “Ata” factory as the manager of dye-works for30 years. Then he retired. Eliezer is married, has one son and threegrandchildren. He resides in Kiriyat Bialik.Weisz HayaRóth IlonaBorn in Budapest on 7.8.1923Member of “Hashomer Hatzair”Haya was an underground activist. In 1944 she worked for theInternational Red Cross, in Department A, with Ephra Teichman-Agmon.She made aliya and resides in Givatayim.<strong>Brothers</strong> for <strong>Resistance</strong> and <strong>Rescue</strong> 247
