Dr. Yakobi MenahemJakubovics EmilBorn in Csap (Csop) on 30.11.1923Member of “Bnei Akiva”Menahem studied at the Jewish high school in Ungvár (Uzshorod). In1944 he was one of the organizers of the “Bnei Akiva” underground. InMay 1944 Menahem moved to Romania where he met and took care ofthe Jews smuggled from Hungary by way of the tiyul. In 1945 he returnedto Hungary and was a member of the movement leadership. Between1947 and 1949 he worked at the center of the movement in Paris. Later,he was in charge of Jewish education in Los Angeles until his retirement.Menahem lives in Los Angeles.Dr. Yeshurun EliyahuSzabó ÖdönBorn in Budapest on 7.10.1914Died in 2003 in IsraelMember of “Hanoar Hatzioni”In 1938 Eliyahu did a doctorate in eastern languages and pre-history andwas a certified neologue rabbi. He was active in the Jewish students’union, chairman of the “Maccabea” and member of the executivecommittee of the Hungarian Zionist Association. From January to April1944 Eliyahu served in a forced labor unit. He escaped and joined theunderground activities of “Hanoar Hatzioni”. Eliyahu warned Jews of whatlay in store for them. He transferred weapons, equipment and food to thebunker on Zöldmáli Street in Buda. After the bunker was discovered, hefound refuge in the camp on Aréna Street where the candidates forleaving Hungary on the Relief and <strong>Rescue</strong> Committee train wereconcentrated. Eliyahu made aliya. He lived in Natanya.Yitzhaki YitzhakIzsák IstvánBorn in Debrecen on 21.6.1926Died in 1982Member of “Hanoar Hatzioni”In 1943 Yitzhak was enlisted in a forced labor unit, escaped, arrived inBudapest and lived under a false name as a refugee from Carpatho-Ruthenia. After the Germans entered Hungary on 19.3.1944, he joinedthe underground activities of his movement. He delivered food and forged<strong>Brothers</strong> for <strong>Resistance</strong> and <strong>Rescue</strong> 257
