He gave assistance tothe refugees from Slovakia and Poland who arrived in Hungary. He dealtwith the tiyul. He was caught by the Hungarian secret police andinterrogated. He stayed in the Garany detention camp for a year. Afterthe invasion of Hungary on 19.3.1944, Tzvi was one of those who were infavour of members of the movement going underground, mainlycomrades born in Hungary.Tzvi made aliya in 1947. He completed his doctorate in sociology. He is amember of Kibbutz Metzuba.Amir AmramGrünwald AlfrédBorn on 1.2.1923Died on 3.6.1998 in IsraelMember of “Hashomer Hatzair”Amram came from a well-to-do, strictly traditional family who were in thetimber business. He studied at a yeshiva and also learned carpentry. Hejoined “Hashomer Hatzair” and lived with his comrades in a “Heim” (ashared rented room) where he met his girlfriend and future wife, MarcsaSpinner. He gave assistance to the refugees who arrived from Slovakia toHungary. Amram was enlisted in a forced labor unit. Marcsa and EfraTeichman (Agmon), who were central activists in the movement, tried tohelp him escape from service in the forced labor camp in Tata and toarrive in Budapest in order to join the Relief and <strong>Rescue</strong> Committee trainto Switzerland. Amram and his friend, Mordehai Fraenkel, were late andthe train left without them. Eventually, Amram succeeded in crossing theborder, reaching Romania and, from there, with Marcsa, Eretz Israel(Palestine). He joined Kibbutz Ein Dor.<strong>Brothers</strong> for <strong>Resistance</strong> and <strong>Rescue</strong> 38
