He escorted Jews who were led onthe streets and cooperated in saving them. During the last days of thewar he served as a guard in front of the movement’s building on BenczúrStreet that was under the protection of the International Red Cross. Afterthe war he continued with his activities for the movement. On his way toEretz Israel (Palestine) he was taken to Cyprus by the British.Fischman YaffaRosenberg JuliBorn on 5.7.1927 in Nagybocskó (Velikij Bicskiv)Member of Dror HabonimYaffa studied and graduated elementary school and junior high school inher hometown. In 1943 she arrived in Budapest and learned the trade ofdressmaking. Thanks to Vili Eisikovics, who came from the same town,she joined the Dror Habonim Movement. As of 19.3.1944, after theGerman occupation, she worked together with Eli Shalev,Betzalel Adlerand others in organizing the underground, distributing Aryan papers andmaintai üning contacts with their comrades. After the "Arrow Cross" coupd'état (15.10.1944) she hid in a bunker in Hungaria Boulevard. Thebunker was discovered, and Yaffa and her comrades were detained inthe Margit Boulevard military prison.
