Ya’akov participated in the International Council of “Hashomer Hatzair”that took place on 31.12.1943 in Vágújhely (Nové Mesto nad Váhom).According to the decision of the council, in 1944 prior to the Germaninvasion, Ya’akov made aliya with Yoshko Baumer, via Hungary, using anauthentic certificate. He joined Kibbutz Ha’ogen. Ya’akov married HaikaKlinger, a member of the movement and a refugee from Poland. Ya’akovleft the kibbutz. He resides in Moshav Sde Nitzan.Rosenbaum MosheRosenbaum MoseBorn in Kökényes (Ternove) in 1924Died in 1984 in IsraelMember of “Dror Habonim”In 1942 Moshe moved to Budapest and joined “Hehalutz Hatzair” whichlater became “Dror Habonim”. In January and February 1944 he sharedan apartment with his brother, Shmuel, and other comrades. Togetherthey planned resistance and rescue operations. After the Germansinvaded Hungary on 19.3.1944, Moshe was sent to the Carpatho-Ruthenia region to rescue comrades with the help of forged documents.When he returned to Budapest, Moshe became active in theunderground. He left Hungary on the train of the Relief and <strong>Rescue</strong>Committee. He made aliya and worked in the Israel Military Industries.Rabbi Dr. Rosenbaum PinhasRosenbaum TiborBorn in Kisvárda in 1923Died in Geneva in 1985Member of “Bnei Akiva”Pinhas was the offspring of an outstanding family of rabbis. His fatherwas the last rabbi in his town. His whole family perished in Auschwitz.Pinhas studied in a yeshiva in Ungvár (Uzshorod) and in other places. Hestudied at universities in Austria and Germany and got a doctorate inpolitical science and law. Pinhas was a member of the Zionist executivecommittee on behalf of “Hapoel Hamizrahi”. In 1943 he joined the “BneiAkiva” movement. He was enlisted in a forced labor unit, ran away andarrived in Budapest. After the German invasion on 19.3.1944, Pinhasbecame one of the leaders of the"Bnei Akiva" movement. He operated inthe “Glass House” on Vadász Street. Donning the Hungarian fascistArrow Cross uniform he liberated Jews from the Yellow Star Houses andthe Death March. After the liberation Pinhas served for some time asrabbi in Kisvárda. He was active in the revival of his movement, a<strong>Brothers</strong> for <strong>Resistance</strong> and <strong>Rescue</strong> 201
