Fleischer TrudiBorn in Pozsony (Bratislava) on 4.7.1929Died on 17.10.2009 in IsraelMember of “Maccabi Hatzair”In 1942 Trudi was smuggled by her parents from Slovakia to Budapest.She experienced many hardships as a refugee living under a false name.Trudi was arrested, released and moved from one place to another. WithPeretz Révész’ help she was added to the train of the Relief and <strong>Rescue</strong>Committee and, at the end of June 1944, she left Hungary. In September1945 she made aliya. Trudi enlisted in the IDF and served for two years.In 1951 she married Mordi Fleischer. Between 1951 and 1952 they weremembers of Kibbutz Yassur. Trudi worked as a medical secretary. Sheresides in Givatayim.Fodor LajosFriedlander LajosBorn in Beregszász (Berehovo) in 1883Perished in 1944Member of the “Gordon Circle” and of “Hashomer Hatzair”Lajos was a lawyer and a loyal friend of the “Hashomer Hatzair”movement from the 1930’s. He served as the legal consultant for themovement and represented it at Zionist Congresses and in many otherevents. He was one of the founders of the “Borohov Circle”. After theGermans invaded Hungary on 19.3.1944 he was arrested and all theefforts to rescue him failed. He was deported to Auschwitz where heperished. His children, Aladár and Éva made aliya.Fodor Mordehai ‘Mordi”Fodor IstvánBorn in Kassa (Košice) in 1921Murdered in 1944Member of “Hashomer Hatzair”Mordi was an only child and a relative of the poet Avigdor Hame’iri. Hewas a member of the movement from an early age. He learned plumbing.Mordi moved to Budapest at the end of 1938 and joined the movement’sleadership. He belonged to the Sela Organization. From 1942 he wasactive in giving assistance to the refugees arriving in Budapest fromSlovakia and took part in the underground activities of his movement. In1943 Mordi returned to Kassa in order to witness the birth of his son from<strong>Brothers</strong> for <strong>Resistance</strong> and <strong>Rescue</strong> 90
