Blau HaimBlau SándorBorn in Vágsellye (Šal’a) in 1924Killed in 1944Member of “Maccabi Hatzair”Haim was Ya'akov Böeri’s brother. He studied in a Yeshiva in Galanta. InApril 1944 he was enlisted in a forced labor unit. Haim deserted andjoined the Zionist youth movements underground. He served as a liaisonofficer between the “Glass House” on Vadász Street and the ProtectedHouses under the auspices of neutral countries. About ten days beforethe liberation of Budapest by the Red Army he, and his friend MeirKárpáti, were told to contact and supply food to a group of comrades whohad been caught in bunkers but recently freed by the underground fromthe military prison on Margit Boulevard and were in hiding. Kárpáti andBlau left the “Glass House” with two parcels of food but never deliveredthe goods and disappeared. One conjecture is that they were arrested byan Arrow Cross patrol and executed on the banks of the Danube River.Another conjecture is that they died in the cellar of the Royal Palace inBuda, which served as the German headquarters.Blau MalkaBlau Málka MagdaBorn in Miskolc in 1920Perished in Auschwitz in 1944Member of “Hashomer Hatzair”Malka was a member of the Miskolc ken. She moved to Budapest withher sister Yehudit.After the Germans invaded Hungary on 19.3.1944, she operated underfalse documents.
