Langer Miklós 'Miki'Born in Poprad in 1923Murdered in 1944Friend of “Hashomer Hatzair”Miki worked as a draftsman-planner in Budapest. He forged documents.Miki came up with original inventions and was very resourceful. On21.12.1944 he was staying with <strong>David</strong> <strong>Gur</strong> and “Feigi” (FeigenbaumEndre – Fábry <strong>And</strong>rej) in the forgery laboratory in an apartment on thefirst floor of 13, Erzsébet Street in Budapest when it was discovered bychance by Hungarian detectives who were looking for Jews in hiding. Thethree men were taken to the fascist Arrow Cross district headquarterswhich were located nearby. The suitcases with the seals, the emptyforms and the finished forged documents were also taken away. Theprisoners managed to swallow the notes and documents with theiraddresses. Miki and his friends were interrogated, brutally tortured andcruelly beaten. Miki Langer could not put up with the torture and beatingsand, the day after he was caught, on December 22 nd , he died. His twofriends were taken to the central military prison on Margit Boulevard andwere set free in a daring operation by the Zionist youth movementsunderground.Lantos YeshayahuBorn on 14.2.1926Member of “Bnei Akiva”Yeshayahu was an underground activist. He was a prisoner in the Kistarcsacamp. He stayed and worked in the “Glass House”. From 1945 Yeshayahulived in Hungary and Transylvania.He made aliya in 1946 and worked as a high school teacher.<strong>Brothers</strong> for <strong>Resistance</strong> and <strong>Rescue</strong> 159
