Izsák HavaIzsák ÉvaBorn in Szatmárnémeti (Satu Mare) in 1925Died in 1944Member of “Hashomer Hatzair”After the annexation of North Transylvania to Hungary in 1940, Hava tookpart in the communist, anti-fascist activities in her hometown. After theauthorities discovered this activity, she fled to Nagyvárad and joined theHungarian, Schwabs and Jews underground. However, she was notintegrated and, in order to protect the group, they tried to force her tocommit suicide. She then moved to Debrecen and ended her life bytaking cyanide (these details are taken from the book written by hersister, Miriam Ziman [Izsák], “A Tombstone of Letters and Tears”, 1989.)Joszipovics IrénRosenberg PiriBorn in Nagyszőllős (Vinohragyiv) in 1918Died in 1969 in USAMember of “Hashomer Hatzair”Irén’s parents, Rudolf and Rosalie Rosenberg, had fifteen children. Herfather was a cantor and a slaughterer. In 1939 she lived for a year inPrague, where she met Moshe Elefánt (Pil-Alpan).In 1944, after the German occupation of Hungary, prior to theconcentration of Jews in the Nagyszølløs ghetto, Irén escaped toBudapest, renewed contact with Moshe Alpan and started to work for“Hashomer Hatzair”. She mainly dealt with the transfer of forgeddocuments to the young Jews in forced labor units. After the liberationIrén returned to her hometown and married Shmuel Joszipovics. Later,she emigrated to France and from there she moved to the USA. Shesettled down in Los Angeles.Jung JosephJung JózsefBorn in Munkács (Mukacsevo) in 1926Died on 25.12.2002 in IsraelMember of “Hashomer Hatzair”After the Germans invaded Hungary on 19.3.1944, Joseph ran away fromthe Munkács ghetto, hid in the forest and later escaped equipped withforged documents he had received from the movement and arrived inBudapest. Joseph joined the “Hashomer Hatzair” underground activities.He went on daring missions and on one of them he was caught in the<strong>Brothers</strong> for <strong>Resistance</strong> and <strong>Rescue</strong> 137
