2. Pressure Vessels - Each pressure vessel, except for “UM” stamped pressure vessels, shall be subject to either initial<br />

in-service inspection (for a newly manufactured pressure vessel) or initial field certificate inspection (for an existing<br />

pressure vessel).<br />

a. <strong>The</strong> initial field certificate inspection <strong>of</strong> existing pressure vessels shall take place by October 6, 2011.<br />

b. Each pressure vessel, with the exception <strong>of</strong> pressure vessels that are under the supervision <strong>of</strong> a<br />

registered owner-user inspection agency, shall receive a certificate inspection triennially.<br />

3. Pressure vessels <strong>and</strong> unfired boilers that are under the supervision <strong>of</strong> a registered owner-user inspection<br />

agency shall be inspected at intervals required by the <strong>National</strong> <strong>Board</strong> Inspection Code or API-510, as<br />

applicable.<br />

4. <strong>The</strong> inspection <strong>of</strong> any pressure vessel(s) contained within a refrigeration system shall be<br />

conducted pursuant to the regulation on refrigeration systems <strong>and</strong> is not part <strong>of</strong> the pressure vessel<br />

inspection requirements.<br />

InSUranCe InSpeCtIOn reQUIrementS<br />

1. Inspections made by commissioned inspectors employed by an authorized inspection agency licensed to do business<br />

in the state <strong>and</strong> holding a Certificate <strong>of</strong> Competency from the department are accepted in lieu <strong>of</strong> inspections made by<br />

department inspectors.<br />

2. <strong>The</strong> department must be notified <strong>of</strong> any suspension <strong>of</strong> insurance.<br />

3. <strong>The</strong> department must be notified <strong>of</strong> new business <strong>and</strong> discontinuance <strong>of</strong> insurance.<br />

4. <strong>The</strong> department must be notified <strong>of</strong> rule violation(s).<br />

5. <strong>The</strong> department must be notified <strong>of</strong> refusal <strong>of</strong> entry.<br />

CertIFICate OF InSpeCtIOn<br />

1. A Certificate <strong>of</strong> Inspection for boilers, valid 12 months, is issued by the department upon payment <strong>of</strong> a<br />

$50.00 fee per boiler by the insurer to the department provided the inspection was satisfactory.<br />

2. A Certificate <strong>of</strong> Inspection for refrigeration systems, valid 12 months, is issued by the department upon<br />

payment <strong>of</strong> a $40.00 fee per boiler by the insurer to the department provided the inspection was satisfactory.<br />

3. <strong>The</strong> a Certificate <strong>of</strong> Inspection for pressure vessels is valid for the period indicated <strong>and</strong> in no case longer<br />

than 3-years <strong>and</strong> is issued by the department upon payment <strong>of</strong> a $30.00 fee per pressure vessel by the<br />

insurer to the department provided the inspection was satisfactory.<br />

4. <strong>The</strong> certificate fee for a boiler, pressure vessel or a refrigeration system inspected by a state-employed<br />

inspector must be paid upon the owner receiving an invoice from the department. A certificate is not issued if<br />

there are unabated violations.<br />
