A group of pressure vessels such as paper machine rolls or dryers operating as a single machine or unit shall be considered
as one pressure vessel.
1. The term “heating surface” includes water walls but excludes economizers and superheaters.
2. In the event a hydrostatic test is made, an additional fee based on a scale of the internal inspection fee scale may be
charged.
3. To the above fees, there may be added all traveling expenses incurred in connection with inspections. The expenses shall
be governed by the regulations for traveling expenses established for state officials. In cases where one trip is made to
inspect two or more locations for two or more parties, the traveling expenses shall be prorated between the parties on
the basis of the number of objects inspected or the time consumed for each inspection or both.
4. All other inspections: $75.00 per hour but not less than $150.00 per occurrence during regular working hours, and
$150.00 per hour but not less than $200.00 per occurrence when performed outside regular working hours at the
request of the beneficiary.
mISCellaneOUS
1. The National Board Inspection Code is required and acceptable to the department.
2. Inspectors must hold a Commission to Inspect as a boiler inspector, issued by the department.
3. Commission to Inspect will be granted without examination to inspectors holding a National Board Commission upon
application in person to the department, together with a photostatic copy of the applicant’s National Board Commission
and a copy of the Authority to Inspect from the latest jurisdiction where employed, and two passport pictures.
4. State serial numbers must be stamped on or affixed to all boilers and pressure vessels. These consist of the
letters “HAW” followed by a number issued by the department and the last two digits of the year (Example:
HAW___101___65).
5. Riveted patches: The design of the patch and method of installation shall be in accordance with the National Board
Inspection Code (1973 Edition).
