mISCellaneOUS<br />
1. Only organizations holding valid ASME “V” or “UV” authorization, the <strong>National</strong> <strong>Board</strong> “VR” authorization or those specifically<br />
approved by the division may repair safety relief valves.<br />
2. Reciprocal Commission is issued for a $10.00 fee to inspectors holding an approved state or <strong>National</strong> <strong>Board</strong> Commission<br />
upon application to the division together with a photostatic copy <strong>of</strong> said commission. Examinations for Certificate <strong>of</strong><br />
Competency are usually held by the <strong>Board</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Boiler</strong> <strong>and</strong> Pressure Vessel <strong>Rules</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Regulations</strong> the first Wednesday in March,<br />
June, September <strong>and</strong> December. An examination fee <strong>of</strong> $30.00 is required. Commissions are issued upon payment <strong>of</strong> an<br />
additional fee <strong>of</strong> $40.00 <strong>and</strong> renewed annually for a fee <strong>of</strong> $25.00.<br />
3. Illinois requires all companies performing welded repairs to boilers <strong>and</strong> pressure vessels under their jurisdiction to<br />
be licensed by the division. An application package may be requested by contacting the division. A license is issued for<br />
three years. Initial license fee is $300.00. Renewal fee is $150.00. Applicants must possess a <strong>National</strong> <strong>Board</strong> “R” stamp to<br />
qualify.<br />
4. A copy <strong>of</strong> the Illinois <strong>Boiler</strong> <strong>and</strong> Pressure Vessel Safety Act <strong>and</strong> rules <strong>and</strong> regulations may be obtained by contacting the division<br />
or by visiting www.sfm.illinois.gov.<br />
