10. Nuclear surveys:<br />

a. $250.00 plus expenses for up to one-half day;<br />

b. $500.00 plus expenses for one day up to eight hours.<br />

mISCellaneOUS<br />

1. <strong>The</strong> <strong>National</strong> <strong>Board</strong> Inspection Code is adopted for repairs <strong>and</strong> alterations.<br />

2. Certificate <strong>of</strong> Competency examinations are held by the boiler examining board on the first Wednesday in March, June,<br />

September, <strong>and</strong> December. An initial boiler inspector’s commission <strong>and</strong> identification card is issued (upon payment <strong>of</strong> a<br />

fee <strong>of</strong> $40.00) to those inspectors successfully passing the examination <strong>and</strong> obtaining a <strong>National</strong> <strong>Board</strong> Commission, or to<br />

inspectors holding a <strong>National</strong> <strong>Board</strong> Commission <strong>and</strong> who have passed an acceptable examination in another state. A fee<br />

<strong>of</strong> $20.00 is charged for the annual renewal <strong>of</strong> the identification card.<br />

3. Upon completion <strong>of</strong> the installation <strong>of</strong> a boiler or at the time <strong>of</strong> the initial certificate inspection <strong>of</strong> an already installed<br />

boiler that has not been inspected <strong>and</strong> decaled according to these rules, a decal with the state serial number shall be<br />

placed in a conspicuous location on the boiler/water heater for identification.<br />

4. All persons, firms, <strong>and</strong> corporations engaged in the installation, moving, <strong>and</strong> reinstallation <strong>of</strong> power boilers, steamheating,<br />

or hot-water heating boilers in the State <strong>of</strong> Louisiana, with the exception <strong>of</strong> the City <strong>of</strong> New Orleans, shall be<br />

licensed by the state fire marshal to perform such work. Before such license is issued, the applicant must pass a written<br />

examination administered by the chief boiler inspector.<br />

5. Before any boiler is installed, moved, or reinstalled, the licensed person, firm, or corporation must submit an application<br />

to the chief boiler inspector listing the location, manufacturer, type, serial number <strong>and</strong> <strong>National</strong> <strong>Board</strong> number <strong>of</strong> the<br />

boiler, <strong>and</strong> the expected date <strong>of</strong> installation completion.<br />

6. A license is required for a fee <strong>of</strong> $75.00, renewable annually, for the installation, moving, or reinstallation <strong>of</strong> power boilers,<br />

steam-heating boilers, <strong>and</strong> hot-water heating boilers. A written examination is required <strong>and</strong> is administered by the<br />

chief boiler inspector. Examination fee is $50.00. A permit is also required. Fee is $25.00 per unit for installation <strong>of</strong> each<br />

power boiler, steam-heating boiler, <strong>and</strong> hot-water heating boiler.<br />

7. A license is not required to operate a boiler or pressure vessel; however, an operator is required to be in attendance<br />

during operation.<br />
